WHAT WE BELIEVE
Moreover, in the Catholic Church itself, all possible care must be taken, that we hold that faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by all.
– St. Vincent of Lerins, d. circa 445

At St Timothy’s, we uphold the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). As such we believe in:
-
The Holy Bible as Word of God, sufficient for salvation and all essential matters of faith and morals.
-
The Nicene Creed, Apostles’ Creed, and Athanasian Creed as the historical summaries of the biblical “Rule of Faith.”
-
The two principal Sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Eucharist as instituted by Christ are generally necessary for all Christians. In addition to these two, there are five others: Holy Orders, Unction, Matrimony, Confirmation, and Confession.
-
The historic apostolic succession in the episcopacy.
-
As traditional Anglicans and Catholics we embrace traditional Formularies because we believe they are in conformity to Scripture, namely:
-
The 1928 Book of Common Prayer
-
The 1940 Hymnal
